Type 89 Tracked Armored Vehicle

The combat weight of the Type 89 armored vehicle is 14.5 tons, with a maximum speed of 65 kilometers per hour and a maximum range of 500 kilometers. The water maneuvering method is self-propelled tracked water propulsion, with a maximum speed of 6.5 kilometers per hour. Although the combat weight of the Type 89 improved armored combat vehicle has increased, the power system has increased by nearly 40% compared to the Type 89, and a new transmission/walking device has been adopted. Its maximum road speed and off-road capability have been qualitatively improved. The improved Type 89 armored vehicle has reduced fuel consumption and continues to use the rear mounted external fuel tank of the Type 89 armored vehicle, with a maximum travel of>500 kilometers. The improved Type 89 armored combat vehicle still uses track water maneuvering, but a water guide grille has been added at the end of the rear skirt of the vehicle, which is beneficial for stability and speed improvement during water travel, making it currently the fastest tracked vehicle in China to use track water propulsion.
